The Burke County Board of Elections certified election results last Friday and found a perfectly balanced count with zero discrepancies.
Elections board director Kenny Rhyne said 2,231 out of 18,219 voters eligible to vote in this election — which was a municipal election with no candidates running for county, state, or federal offices — cast a ballot this year. That is about 12.25% of eligible voters.
Rhyne said there were 1,030 early voting ballots, 10 absentee ballots, five provisional ballots, and 1,186 election day ballots.
This week, the N.C. State Board of Elections members will meet and sign off on each county’s canvass results.
