The Carolina Renaissance Festival will hold open auditions Saturday, May 30, and Saturday, June 6, for performers interested in joining the festival’s 33rd season.
Auditions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon both days at Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy, 16115 Poplar Tent Road in Huntersville. The school is adjacent to the festival fairgrounds.
The festival is seeking actors, street performers, cosplayers, historical reenactors, musicians, singers, dancers, variety acts and stagehands. Amateur and professional performers may audition. Those auditioning should be 13 or older.
Festival performers take part in interactive outdoor theater throughout the festival grounds. Accepted cast members will participate in free summer workshops and rehearsals covering costuming, period language, accents, character development, improvisation, and other topics.
This year, the festival also is seeking a performer for the role of Village Town Crier. The character will deliver satirical “news of the realm” with a bell and scroll as part of the festival’s entertainment.
The Carolina Renaissance Festival includes outdoor theater, circus-style entertainment, arts and crafts, jousting and food.
The festival will return for its 33rd annual season Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 3 through Nov. 22, on a 250-acre farm north of Charlotte, between Concord and Huntersville, near the intersection of N.C. 73 and Poplar Tent Road.
