The WNC Sculpture Center hosted its sixth annual Iron Light Iron Pour on Saturday, June 6, offering the public a close-up look at artists working with 3,000-degree molten iron.
The annual event featured the dramatic process of pouring molten iron and turning raw material into art. It has become one of the sculpture center’s signature events, drawing artists, families, and visitors interested in the connection between art, craft, and industry.
This year’s event included a live iron pour by professional artists and metalworkers, blacksmithing demonstrations, and raku ceramics firing. Food trucks and live music were also be part of the evening.
The center is located at 4612 Patterson School Drive in Lenoir. The outdoor park is open daily from dawn to dusk. The indoor gallery is open Saturday and Sunday, 1-5 p.m. Learn more at wncsculpture.org.
