FOR THE PAPERThe Dallas String Quartet (DSQ) will perform at the City of Morganton Municipal Auditorium (CoMMA) on Friday, April 4, at 7:30 p.m. with their brand-new electric rock fusion experience show, which features ’70s and ’80s rock songs with virtuosic violin solos.
The group uses LED light up violin and viola instrumentation that are accompanied by bass, guitar, and drums for a sonically-thrilling classic rock experience. They play favorites from Led Zeppelin, Metallica, AC/DC, Journey, Guns N’ Roses, and many more artists.
The quartet is referred to as “Bach meets Bon Jovi” and is compared to artists like Lindsey Stirling and the Vitamin String Quartet. They use both traditional and electric instruments and are known for their eclectic renditions of favorite tunes.
DSQ has performed for Presidents Obama and Bush, with superstars like Ed Sheeran, Luke Combs, and Ashley McBryde, at the Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM Awards), for NBA and NFL organizations, and their cover of Katy Perry’s “Firework” was featured on American Idol. The core group is composed of violist Ion Zanca, violinists Valory Hight and Melissa Priller, and bassist Young Heo.
CoMMA Events Manager Amber Austin said, “We are thrilled to welcome DSQ to the CoMMA stage. They will be playing all the classic rock songs you know and love, while adding their own unique style.”
Tickets for the performance range from $18-$48 for adults and $10 for students (plus sales tax). For additional information, or to purchase tickets please contact the CoMMA box office at 828-433-7469 or visit www.commaonline.org.
