On Dec. 6, 2024, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Officers with the Morganton Department of Public Safety responded to the 400 block of Burkemont Avenue following reports of a breaking and entering in progress. Burke County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting that a female’s ex-boyfriend had broken a window to gain entry into her residence, where he assaulted her in the presence of her children. The suspect then fled the scene in a white Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Upon arrival, officers gathered information to obtain felony warrants for the suspect, identified as Nicholas Enrique Salucio Jacinto, 24, of Morganton. Approximately 30 minutes later, an officer observed a vehicle matching the suspect's description traveling on Burkemont Avenue. When the officer attempted to follow the vehicle, it turned onto a side street in an apparent effort to evade law enforcement. The vehicle ultimately stopped at a dead end on Rhyne Street, where officers located and detained Jacinto.
Jacinto was confirmed to be the individual involved in the breaking and entering and was taken into custody. He was transported to the Burke County Magistrate’s Office and charged with the following offenses:
Felony Breaking and Entering with Intent to Terrorize
Crime of Domestic Violence (M)
Driving While Impaired
No Operator’s License
Possession of Open Container
Due to the domestic nature of the charges, Jacinto was given a 48-hour hold. His first court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 6, 2024.Â
