H.S. FOOTBALL: Panthers lose to Avery, drop to 0-2

The Panthers (0-2) suffered an 18-0 home loss at the hands of Avery County on Aug. 28, although Kidd completed three passes for 39 yards — including two connections with River McCrary for 37 yards — to go with Alex Ryan’s 21 carries for 55 yards. Ryan also tied Liam Singleton for the team lead in tackles with 10, while Wyatt Thompson and Mason Black each had nine.
