The Burke County Sheriff's Office released the name of the homicide victim in Friday's death investigation.
Matthew Yury Roderick, 22, was found dead at 3105 NC 126, the residence of Donaven James Purcell, 26.
Purcell and Chad Allen MacJarrett, 27, were arrested and charged with felony second-degree murder following a homicide investigation that began Friday, according to BCSO.
Both men were held without bond and had their first court appearance today. The Paper reporter Mica Banks is at the Burke County Courthouse to follow the court proceeding.Â

BACKGROUND
The sheriff's office responded to a call at 3105 Highway 126 reporting a cardiac arrest on Friday. When deputies arrived, they found a deceased man and initiated a homicide investigation. The N.C. State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) assisted with the investigation. The location is between Lake James Community Center and Bones Jones Burgers and Butchery.Â
MacJarrett and Purcell were identified as suspects and taken into custody. Purcell lives in the home. MacJarrett lives nearby.
Investigation is ongoing. Both the Burke County Sheriff's Office and SBI are working on the case.
