ALLEN VANNOPPEN / THE PAPERIn a recent article called “This Underrated Blue Ridge Town Has Two North Carolina State Parks on Its Doorstep,” Dollanganger highlighted the various charms of small-town Morganton.
The writer characterizes Morganton as a small town that “has a vibrant art and music scene, excellent dining and shopping, gorgeous rural landscapes, and awe-inspiring outdoor adventures.”
Just 30 minutes from the city, visitors can enjoy Lake James and South Mountains state parks. Head an hour north to explore Pisgah National Forest.
Dollanganger did not leave the downtown area unforgotten, as she pointed to the Morganton Farmers Market that happens every Wednesday and Saturday in May to October and the annual Historic Morganton Festival in September.
