The Burke County Chamber of Commerce has announced a new health insurance option for small businesses, designed to make coverage more affordable for companies with 2 to 50 employees.
In partnership with the NC Chamber and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, the Chamber is offering Carolina HealthWorks, a statewide program that allows small businesses to pool together under a Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangement (MEWA). The approach can help reduce annual health care costs for participants by leveraging collective purchasing power.
Open enrollment is underway, and Chamber officials encourage local employers to review their options for 2026.
Businesses that already carry Blue Cross NC policies can contact their insurance brokers for quotes. Employers without Blue Cross NC coverage can reach out to any Chamber-member insurance agent for assistance and guidance.
More information about Carolina HealthWorks is available through the NC Chamber’s website. Updates will also be shared on the Burke Chamber’s social media channels.
The Chamber said the new program reflects ongoing efforts to expand the value of membership and support both business owners and employees in Burke County.
