September’s restaurant inspection scores in Burke and Caldwell counties ranged from hot to cool, just like the temperatures outside did as we slid from summer to fall.
Eight dining establishments in Burke County scored a perfect 100, two in Caldwell. On the other end of the spectrum was the low scorer, Atlantic Country Buffet with an 87.
The Health Department’s Environmental Health division in both counties regularly inspects restaurants, food trucks, food stands, school cafeterias, and other food establishments. The frequency of inspections varies. All food-service establishments are inspected at least annually. Full-service restaurants — Risk Category IV — are inspected the most at four times a year.
