Freedom wide receiver Noah Francis (2) runs past a South Caldwell defender during a varsity football game on Oct. 16 in Morganton. The Patriots (7-1, 3-0 Northwestern 6A/7A Conference) scored early and often en route to a 47-14 victory, with Francis finding the end zone on all three of his catches as he finished with 180 receiving yards. Christian Chapman added seven carries for 108 yards and three touchdowns, Ryder Huffman completed 8 of 10 passes for 268 yards and the three TD strikes to Francis, and Wyatt Cantrell (four carries, 9 yards) also crossed the goal line. Huffman also had a 33-yard run, while Xander Summers (38-yard run, 17-yard catch), Ty Adkins (31-yard catch, 14-yard run), Julius Dominguez (two catches, 28 yards), and Eboo Thomas (12-yard catch) accounted for the rest of Freedom’s offensive yardage. Furthermore, Freedom’s JV team moved to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in NWC play thanks to a 33-30 road win over South Caldwell on Oct. 15.
