More than seven months after Hurricane Helene devastated the popular Morganton restaurant, forcing it to close, owners Justin Davis and Jeff Lamont reopened Town Tavern in mid-May.
The owners hired about 60 staff members for the renovated eatery. “A large majority of the staff from before came back, which is a testament to the way it was before, which is great,” Lamont said.
The restaurant has a new and improved look with the same design layout, while the outside patio has been remodeled and freshly stained with added summer sails and string lights. Customers who enjoyed Town Tavern favorites will be happy to learn the owners kept the same menu.
In a recent Paper interview, Davis and Lamont expressed excitement about bringing Town Tavern back to Morganton.
“We’re happy to be back in the community. It’s been a hard journey, and we’re looking forward to seeing all the familiar faces and serving the community,” Davis said.
“We’re just ready to get back to where we were,” Lamont said.
