Wildcats slip past East Burke in soccer
Draughn boys soccer player Abdiel Gonzalez Tomas (10) tries to get past East Burke’s William Turner (29) on Wednesday in Icard. The Wildcats (2-9-2, 1-5 Western Piedmont 3A/4A Conference) defeated the Cavaliers (0-13-1, 0-6) by a 1-0 final, with the only goal of the match coming from Christian Ugalde off an assist from Talen Denton in the opening half. In addition, goalkeeper Ethan Joyner had several key saves as he kept EB off the scoreboard.
