Prep boys soccer teams completed their regular-season schedules this week, but three Burke County squads will continue their seasons next week when the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state playoffs begin.
Brackets were released on Thursday, with Patton (16-6) and NCSSM-Morganton (7-10) receiving opening-round byes in the 3A and 1A West brackets and Freedom (7-13-1) earning the No. 20 seed in the 6A West.
The Patriots will travel to Monroe on Nov. 2 for a first-round matchup with 13th-seeded Piedmont (10-10-1), with the winner visiting fourth-seeded Ragsdale (17-4) in the second round on Nov. 5.
Patton and NCSSM-Morganton will play their first postseason contests on Nov. 5, with the fifth-seeded Panthers hosting either 12th-seeded Surry Central (10-10-1) or 21st-seeded West Wilkes (7-13-2) and the 10th-seeded Dragons traveling to seventh-seeded Andrews (9-6-1), which will also have a bye in the opening round.
The third round of the playoffs will take place on Nov. 9, followed by the fourth round on Nov. 12, regional championship matches on Nov. 17, and state championship contests on Nov. 19, 20, and 21.
