Freedom High School track and field athlete Frank Harrelson recently advanced to the regional level.

A rising junior for the Patriots, Harrelson finished third in the 3000 meters and sixth in the 1500 meters in the boys 15-16 age group during the AAU North Carolina District Qualifier June 6-7 at Palisades High School in Charlotte.
Harrelson’s times of 9:51.52 in the 3000 and 4:31.89 in the 1500 qualified him for the AAU N.C. Regional Championships June 26-28 at Monroe High School, where Harrelson will attempt to punch his ticket to nationals.
Freedom girls basketball camp
The Freedom girls basketball camp will be held July 27-29 from 6-8 p.m. at FHS’ Crump-Rogers Gymnasium.
Cost is $40, which includes a guaranteed camp T-shirt for those who register by July 21, and ages are rising kindergartners through ninth graders.
