Jammers girls squads post 1st-place finishes
The Burke Jammers sixth-grade girls travel basketball team recently won two tournaments in a row, finishing first during the Battle at the Borders Viking Classic at Avery County High School in Newland on April 18 before also winning the Wilkes Hoop Group April Fools Tournament at West Wilkes High School in Millers Creek on April 25. Players for the Jammers include Emily Carroll, Kyleigh Drum, Jordin Gills, Annabelle Johnston, Liana Kress, Ella Peacock, Ansley Smith, Emma Thornburg, and Ella Woody, while coaches are Chris Coble and Kevin Gills.

The Burke Jammers fifth-grade girls travel basketball team also came in first in its age group during the Wilkes Hoop Group April Fools Tournament at West Wilkes High School on April 25. Players for the Jammers include Sierah DeHetre, Blakelee Garrison, Millie Gills, Bridget Matthews, Sylvie Matthews, Symantha Mitchell, London Murray, Peyton Ruggles, and Kennedy Thomas, while coaches are Brittany Thomas and Brandon Gills.
