DIGGIN' DEEP EN ROUTE TO TITLES
The regular-season champion Gold Diggers needed the do-or-die match, in which they survived some drama involving former Major League Baseball World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner and his wife, but immediately avenged their only loss of the season as they topped Expired Athletes on Wednesday evening at the Catawba Meadows Park sand volleyball courts to cap their 2024 Morganton Parks and Recreation Department adult sand volleyball league tournament title. The Gold Diggers' one-loss championship season comes one summer after they claimed the B division tournament title. Pictured (from left to right) are team members Leah Hasson, Hannah Willcox, Brooke Hall, Spencer Linens, Waylon Rutherford, Ethan Roper, Megan Treadway, and Todd Roper. Not pictured are Austin Butler and Austin Davis.
