The Brevard College softball team this spring has already posted its highest win total since finishing 17-23 in 2019, and the Tornados still have 10 regular-season games remaining.
Valdese native Regan Winkler, who graduated from Draughn High School in 2022 after a standout prep career, is a senior first baseman for Brevard (11-15, 3-5 NCAA Division III USA South Athletic Conference) who has recorded a team-high 39 hits including 11 doubles (T-first on team) while starting every game thus far. Winkler also leads the Tornados in runs scored (24), is second in batting average (.470), is tied for second in RBIs (18), and has more walks (eight) than strikeouts (six).
Winkler also tallied her first stolen base since the 2024 season in an 11-2, five-inning victory over Valley Forge (Penn.) during the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic on March 13 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and she has hit safely in 24 games. Not only that, but she has 11 multi-hit performances, has recorded at least three hits on three occasions, and went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two singles, an RBI, and two runs scored in a 10-0, five-inning home win over Wesleyan College (Ga.) on March 8.
Brevard travels to Fayetteville for a doubleheader against Methodist University today (Saturday, April 4) beginning at 1 p.m.

Pitcher/third baseman Daniell Robinson (Freedom 2025) and infielder/pitcher Marleigh Carswell (Patton 2025) are both freshmen for the Cavaliers (12-18, 4-12 NAIA Appalachian Athletic Conference), who most recently traveled to Columbia International (S.C.) for a doubleheader on Thursday before hosting two games against Union Commonwealth today starting at 4 p.m.

BASEBALL
Mozeley at UNC Pembroke
Mason Mozeley (Freedom 2022) has been a key cog in the Braves’ lineup as a redshirt junior, with all of his contributions coming as either a designated hitter, catcher, or first baseman.
UNC Pembroke (24-9, 15-6 NCAA D-II Conference Carolinas) entered Friday’s game against Francis Marion — which the Braves play twice again today beginning at 2 p.m. — on a five-game winning streak. And for the season, Mozeley is batting .342 (fourth on team) with 41 hits (third) including six homers (third) and nine doubles (T-third).

Mosteller has made four additional pitching appearances including one start, totaling nine strikeouts against seven walks while also hitting a pair of batters in 9 2/3 innings. He has also recorded one hit, a single, in seven at-bats to go with a walk and an RBI for the Falcons (12-13, 6-2 NCAA D-III USA South Athletic Conference), who hosted Brevard on Friday before facing them twice today starting at noon.
