If you are so concerned, why do you never show up at any downtown events, such as Music in the Streets or the July 4 Parade?
You never offer to help with things that need to be done in our town, like watering the flowers, picking up the trash, or showing up at the Second Saturday Breakfasts at Glen Alpine United Methodist Church.
These breakfasts help provide food to needy families right here in our community.
My wife and I, and many others around town, do care about our citizens and we try to do our best to help.
The only thing I see this group do is show up at town meetings and on Facebook, criticizing the very people who are trying to make our town a better place.
I am 75 years old and have lived life to the fullest, and I know smoke screens when I see or hear one. These people only care about control of their own agenda, not what we can do for the citizens of our town.
At the present time, a group of citizens who do care are in the process of raising money to upgrade our Veterans Memorial. So far, we have raised about $5,500. To my knowledge, not one member of the Concerned Citizens of Glen Alpine has donated a dime.
The Glen Alpine in the Streets group and the Glen Alpine Ruritan Club have had fundraisers to support this effort.
The only thing I have seen the Concerned Citizens of Glen Alpine do is criticize the very people who are trying to better our town. The only thing I can say to these people is, “Quit criticizing and do something productive.”
Politics should have been a four-letter word, as dirty as it is. Seems the less you do, the better off you are. This is certainly not the world I grew up in.
When elected officials do not take their job seriously, they should never run for office.
If not for a small win once in a while, I would throw in the towel.
