Where is the Republican Party?

TO THE EDITOR:

It is hard to know what to feel horrible about for America. There are so many insults, injustices, unconstitutional and unlawful acts it is hard to know what to focus on.

Elimination of foreign aid to starving children, medical aid for children, hundreds of food supply distribution centers, as though aid for the less fortunate, starving children is a criminal act. Where are the Evangelical Christians who profess to care so much about children?

If Trump and Musk are so concerned about waste and fraud, they should look at the money allocated to the defense department — millions in cost overruns, $500 for a screwdriver, billions on weapon systems never deployed or even completed.

Or how about the rich and powerful paying hardly any income tax. Tesla made gazillions last year and paid 0 — that’s zero in taxes.

Trump’s tax records reflect his paying almost nothing in income taxes. Taxes not collected add to the deficit and Trump wants to cut taxes again for the wealthiest in America.

But like all bullies they go after those who can’t defend themselves — children in Sudan and Ethiopia, poor children in America, transgender children, EPA, scientific research, etc.

And the latest — the President and Vice President siding with the Russian dictator, war criminal against Ukraine, fighting for their life, a U.S. ally, and quoting Putin’s propaganda in the Oval Office.

Trump asserting that Ukraine started the war. The meeting with Zelensky was second only to Jan. 6, 2021, as the worst, most demeaning day in U.S. history. Where is the Republican Party? Who stands up for America in the face of this humiliation of our great nation?
