The Paper, NCSSM Students Collaborate on Data Science Project

Gina Byon (left) and Azza Safa, students at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, are spending part of their summer in the offices of The Paper. Through the NCSSM Data Science SRIP 2025, they are assisting the newsroom and business operations. Their tasks include analyzing voter turnout and trends, information that The Paper’s reporters will utilize during election coverage this summer and fall. In addition to their behind-the-scenes work, they will write about their experience, which will be published in a July edition of The Paper.
