The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services has selected Impact Health to lead a regional rural health effort in Western North Carolina.
The program is supported by $213 million in federal funding from the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The statewide effort is intended to improve health outcomes, expand access to care, and create a more connected and sustainable rural health system.
Impact Health will lead the Western North Carolina network across 19 counties, including Burke, and the Qualla Boundary in Region 1.
Over the next five years, Impact Health and other N.C. ROOTS Hub Leads will work with rural communities to improve behavioral health and substance use services, enhance care coordination, use digital tools to improve outcomes, expand access to primary care, and strengthen the healthcare workforce.
