Burke County fourth graders were asked to draw what a “healthy heart looks like.” Judges from UNC Health Blue Ridge selected the winners from more than 68 entries.
The winner of this year’s HeART Poster Contest is Josephine of Morganton Day School. Her principal, art teacher, and PE teacher, as well as executives from UNC Health Blue Ridge and the American Heart Association presented her with a new bicycle on Feb. 3 at her school.
Second- and third-place winners Jessyka of Ray Childers Elementary School and Nora of Morganton Day School also won bicycles courtesy of UNC Health Blue Ridge.
All three award-winning artworks will be featured at the upcoming American Heart Association’s Catawba Valley Heart Ball in Hickory on Feb. 15.
