Wendi Craven, a member of the Burke County Board of Education, has been appointed as the new principal of Hickory High School, effective July 1. Her appointment was one of four new principals named by the Hickory Board of Education on June 10.
New Leadership: Wendi Craven to lead Hickory High School starting July 1.
Background: Craven brings over 18 years of educational experience in Burke County, including roles as a special education teacher and principal.
Board Role: Craven will continue to serve on the Burke County Board of Education until her term ends in November, despite her new role.
Appointment Process: Craven applied for the position in March and accepted the offer on June 7.
Previous Principal: Craven replaces Rebecca Tuttle, who announced her departure at the school's graduation on May 31.
Future Plans: Craven will begin meetings with the leadership team at Hickory High to prepare for her new position.
