FOR THE PAPERJust 2 Guys Productions (J2G) is “working 9 to 5” later this month, bringing a collection of rhinestone-rocking drag queens to Moondog Pizza for a brunch tribute to country icon Dolly Parton.
The production company is kicking off its 2026 season, themed “Community,” which will include drag shows, theater, and community outreach.
Drag shows often feature performers who don over-the-top makeup, wigs, and outfits for comedic and theatrical entertainment. The art form found mainstream popularity through television programs like “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”

FOR THE PAPERWhile drag maintains its status as a hot-button topic in politics, J2G pushes its artists to stay above the controversy.
“Drag is political,” J2G co-owner Matthew McKinney said. “Drag queens were voices for people who didn’t have them. We were like the representatives for the gay community. … (Our queens) have always done really well at killing them with kindness. It’s like that Michelle Obama quote, ‘When they go low, we go high.’”
Matthew explained that one topic brings very little controversy: Dolly Parton.
“I think (Dolly’s) everybody’s favorite blonde country star,” Matthew said. “We love Dolly. I think she’s a big ally for the gay community.”
Matthew, who will be hosting the Dolly’s Divas show as Chloe Capri, explained the details of the Sunday, Jan. 25, brunch event alongside husband and J2G co-owner Dallas McKinney.
“Dolly has so many eras,” Matthew said. “She’s kind of the Taylor Swift before Taylor Swift.”
Each of the queens will represent a different era of Parton’s career, first performing a song from the country star, then returning later in the show to perform a Dolly-inspired number. Matthew — performing as Chloe Capri — is one of five entertainers, including Ivy Chanel Iman Davidson, Ivy Sanchez XS, Quindyn Tarantino, and Katarina Synclaire.
J2G hosted a Dolly’s Divas brunch last January in Gastonia, but decided to resurrect the idea due to the popularity of the theme. Their brunches have featured themes such as the Broadway hit “Mamma Mia!” and “The Golden Girls,” with Capri taking the stage as the wisecracking Sophia.

JUST 2 GUYS PRODUCTIONS / FOR THE PAPER“We do brunches and we do nighttime shows,” Dallas said, clarifying that brunches are family-oriented while nighttime shows are tailored to adults. “We got our start at Moondog Pizza. This is where we started building our community, if you will. We’re also the ones that do the pride festival.”
On Jan. 8, J2G announced they were accepting vendors for their Moondog Pride Festival, which J2G will host on June 6, later this year. Vendors that desire more details can fill out the Google doc form linked on their Facebook page.
On Jan. 11, they announced auditions for their first theatrical show of the year, “The Legend of Georgia McBride.”
The play follows a failed Elvis impersonator who turns to drag to pay the bills. Performances are scheduled for late February and early March. Auditions are at the Brookford Community Building in Brookford on Friday, Jan. 23, and Saturday, Jan. 24, beginning at 7 p.m.
“We’re trying to reach them with Georgia,” Matthew said. “We’re like, ‘Let’s do a theatrical show about drag, and maybe that’ll get the drag lovers to come.’”
The duo hopes to interweave drag performances into the intermissions of theater shows, widening their engagement and introducing crowds to entertainment they may be less familiar with.
“They’re two totally different audiences,” Dallas said. “The people that come to a drag event, you might get a sprinkle of them in the theater audience, but a majority of people will go to a drag show to see a drag show. A majority of people will go to a sit-down theater show to watch a theater show. They won’t mingle or mesh the two worlds together.”
On top of drag shows and theater performances, J2G also plans to encourage volunteers to join them in community outreach — picking up trash, cleaning up parks, and planting trees.
“We want it to be across the board,” Matthew said. “Community is very important to us, because we feel they’ve given us so much. They’ve helped us build this business. It’s time we give back to them.”
Dolly’s Divas will be Jan. 25, with doors opening at noon and the show starting at 12:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door and online in advance. Information can be found on the J2G Facebook page.
