A Burke County nonprofit that provides free services to families from pregnancy through early childhood is planning a community-wide fundraiser this fall to support its work.
The Pregnancy Care Center of Burke County will host its second annual Burke Day for Life on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Burkemont Baptist Church. The event will begin at 9 a.m. with a 5K and Fun Run, followed by family activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Organizers said the event will include live music, food trucks, carnival games, raffles, and door prizes, building on what they described as a successful inaugural event in 2025.
The fundraiser supports the center’s services, which are offered at no cost to clients in Burke County. Those services include pregnancy testing, limited ultrasounds, parenting education and material assistance for families with young children.
The organization also offers longer-term programs, including a prenatal education track and a support program that allows families to earn essential items such as diapers, clothing and baby equipment.
“We rely heavily on community support to continue serving families in Burke County,” organizers said.
The center is funded primarily through donations from local churches, individuals, and annual fundraising events.
Community members can participate in the October event in several ways, including registering for the 5K, donating raffle items, volunteering, or serving as event sponsors.
More information about the event and sponsorship opportunities is available through the Pregnancy Care Center of Burke County, 828-437-4357.
