A Vale man landed in jail on Dec. 26, following a Christmas night stabbing that put the victim in the hospital.

When the Burke County Sheriff’s Office arrived at Catawba Valley Medical Center, they spoke with the victim, a witness, and Bruce Alan Reed, 38, who allegedly assaulted the victim with a black, folding knife in the Taco Bell parking lot in Icard.
The victim suffered deep lacerations and was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem for treatment.
Officers arrested Reed and took him to the Burke County Magistrate, who charged him with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury.
Following his initial court appearance on Dec. 29, Reed received a $50,000 secured bond and a court-appointed lawyer, Charles Bostian.
Reed posted bond on Dec. 31. His next court appearance is Jan. 22.
