Along with about 1,500 others, a Burke County man has been pardoned for his nine counts related to the U.S. Capitol breach on Jan. 6, 2021.
President Donald Trump, in his first day, issued a proclamation on Monday, Jan. 20, to “grant a full, complete and unconditional pardon to all other individuals convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.”
Gregory Charles Peck Jr., of 140 Dogwood St., was indicted Nov. 20, 2024, by the U.S. District of Columbia District Court by a grand jury on the following counts:
Civil disorder
Two counts of assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers
Assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers using a dangerous weapon
Entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon
Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon
Engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon
Disorderly conduct in a Capitol building
Act of physical violence in the Capitol grounds or buildings
Public Affairs Specialist Daniel Ball of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia reported that Peck was dismissed on the indictment, which was officially filed on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
