The YMCA of Catawba Valley has appointed Jared Huffman as its new Vice President of Finance, effective Nov. 19.
Huffman joins the organization after 14 years with UNC Health Blue Ridge, where he held leadership roles in finance, analytics, and operations — most recently serving as senior operations analyst.
He holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in health care management from Appalachian State University where he continues to mentor students there.
A Burke County native, Huffman has been active in community service through roles with Amorem (formerly Caldwell & Burke Hospice), the Teleios Collaborative Network, and as a former board member and treasurer of Mimosa Hills Country Club. He and his wife, Julie, live in Connelly Springs with their children, Boone and Ella-James.
As vice president of finance, Huffman will oversee financial operations, budgeting, risk management, and strategic forecasting for the association. He will serve on the senior leadership team and play a key role in strengthening the Y’s long-term financial stability.
“We are excited to welcome Jared to our leadership team,” said Nat Auten, president and CEO of the YMCA of Catawba Valley. “As our YMCA continues to grow and increase our impact through capital expansion and program innovation, strong financial leadership is essential. This role represents a strategic investment in our future.”
Drew Thomas, chief operating officer and senior vice president at UNC Health Blue Ridge, praised Huffman’s leadership and dedication. “For more than a decade, Jared Huffman has embodied the values that define UNC Health Blue Ridge,” Thomas said. “His leadership and commitment have made a meaningful impact on our team, and I extend my heartfelt gratitude and best wishes as he begins his next chapter with the YMCA.”
Founded in 1969, the YMCA of Catawba Valley serves more than 25,000 people each year through programs that promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
