AMOREM will bring together people who are experiencing grief and loss for an informal time of food and fellowship next week.
Good Grief Meals are scheduled for three locations — Mike’s Inland Seafood (174 Jefferson Road in Boone) on Sept. 2, Mayflower Seafood (303 Blowing Rock Blvd. in Lenoir) on Sept. 3, and El Maiz (414 Carbon City Road in Morganton) on Sept. 4 — and those who attend are expected to pay their own costs.
The meals are sponsored through Ashewood Grief and Counseling Services, AMOREM’s grief support program, and the start time is 3 p.m. each day.
Good Grief Meals are provided monthly, and they are just one of the ways that AMOREM helps individuals of all ages and families cope with the loss of their loved ones.
AMOREM and Thrive will partner for their free monthly advance care planning workshop on Thursday, Sept. 10, in Lenoir.
The workshop will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Thrive, formerly the Caldwell Senior Center.
Advance care planning helps people make their medical wishes known in case they are unable to speak for themselves. The process includes deciding, discussing, and documenting healthcare wishes through tools such as living wills and healthcare powers of attorney.
According to organizers, advance directives can help ensure a person’s healthcare wishes are known and honored while also giving peace of mind to families.
Notaries and witnesses will be available for anyone who wants to complete documents during the workshop.
AMOREM, formerly Burke Hospice and Palliative Care and Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, partners with Thrive to offer the workshop at no cost on the second Thursday of each month.
Space is limited, and registration is required.
