Women’s and children’s health will be front and center at the annual Burke Women’s Fund (BWF) luncheon.
The featured speaker will be Dr. Gandhari Loomis, the executive medical director of UNC Health Blue Ridge. She has a special interest in the care of women and children and believes that empowered women, empower women.

The celebration will be Tuesday, Sept. 16, noon to 1 p.m., at the Morganton Community House at 120 N. King St.
Founded in 2009 by a diverse group of women, BWF membership is composed of Burke County residents and natives who believe in the power of collective giving to improve the lives of women and families in our community. Since 2009, BWF has awarded more than $487,752 in grants that empower women and change lives in Burke County.
The recipients of the 2025 BWF grants will be recognized at the lunch.
The luncheon is open to the public and admission is $15 per person, prepaid or payable at the door by check or cash. Reservations are required, and those interested in attending should respond by Tuesday, Sept. 9, by calling the Community Foundation of Burke County office at 828-437-7105 or emailing info@cfburkecounty.org.
