William C. Paine Jr. received his Eagle Scout rank and his Court of Honor on Saturday, May 31.
Paine, 17, has been active in Scouts since first grade in 2013. He is still active in Troop 184 and the Order of the Arrow.
His Eagle Project at Grace Ridge Retirement Community included demolition of 10 wooden raised garden beds and construction of 10 stone raised garden beds. His project required more than 196 hours of planning and around $5,000 worth of materials. William worked through the early spring to complete the garden beds before planting season.
He has also worked as summer camp staff in 2024 at Camp Bowers and taught Merit Badges; Space Exploration, Chess, Leatherwork, and Citizenship in the Nation.
A recent graduate of Burke Middle College with a high school diploma, and an associate in science from Western Piedmont Community College, Paine plans to continue in Scouting until he enrolls in the fall at Western Carolina University to study mechanical engineering.
