On March 20, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office allegedly seized about 21 grams of methamphetamine and a “trafficking amount of fentanyl” while executing a search warrant in Morganton.

Officers took Darryl Eugene Kirk, 57, and Robert Alan Foster, 65, both of Morganton, into custody.
The Burke County Magistrate charged Kirk with felony trafficking in fentanyl, felony possession of methamphetamine, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The magistrate charged Foster with felony possession of methamphetamine.
According to court documents, Kirk possessed between 4 and 14 grams of fentanyl and a glass pipe as well as the methamphetamine.
Kirk received a $15,000 secured bond and Foster received a $5,000 secured bond. Both posted bail by Monday afternoon.
The court appointed Wayne Clontz to serve as Kirk’s attorney. Foster waived his right to an attorney.
