No bond issued for Connelly Springs man after stealing two semi-trucks, worth $45,000.Â
On Monday, July 7, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office received reports of two semi-trucks stolen from separate businesses in Hildebran. At the time of the theft, one truck was hauling a 53-foot cargo trailer.
During the investigation, the stolen cargo trailer was located, abandoned, in an empty lot on Leger Road in Valdese.
James Andrew Brown, 44, of Connelly Springs, was identified as a suspect in the thefts. Later on Monday, one of the stolen semi-trucks was found partially concealed behind a residence on South Fork Avenue in Hickory.
On Tuesday, July 8, detectives received information that the second stolen semi-truck was in the area of NC 18 South near DAV Avenue.
Deputies responded to the area, located the truck and performed a vehicle stop. Brown, driver of the vehicle, was arrested without incident.
The total value of the recovered items is $45,000.
Brown was transported to the Burke County Magistrate’s Office where he was charged with two counts of felony larceny of a motor vehicle.
He is currently being held without bond and appeared in Burke County District Court on Thursday, July 10.Â
