The rising unsheltered population in Valdese is being addressed by local organizations through a busing program to provide essential services at Burke United Christian Ministries.

The program, organized by Valdese Police Chief Marc Sharpe and community partners, aims to tackle transportation and resource access barriers faced by the unsheltered individuals.

Alongside the busing initiative, efforts are being made to secure problematic vacant properties, distribute Narcan for addiction cases, and collaborate with various organizations to provide support services.

This multifaceted approach is guided by a commitment to addressing both the social and criminal aspects of the unsheltered issue while striving to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
