Those looking for a new brunch spot can put Yesi’s Breakfast and Cantina in downtown Morganton on their list. The restaurant opened Oct. 2 and offers a wide range of options from huevos rancheros to Baja tacos.
Business partners, Arturo Dominguez, Yesenia Alarcon, and Brayan Ajin, wanted to bring something different to Morganton. Their menu offers Mexican breakfast and lunch items, including Huevos a la Mexicana, Yesi’s Chilaquiles, Picadas Con Huevo, Breakfast Quesadilla, American Breakfast, and more.
Yesi’s Breakfast and Cantina is now open at 601 S. Green St. from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Dominguez said they also own Vida Verde Juicery in Tannery Square and plan to integrate the juice bar into their new restaurant. The juice bar, which he said opened in 2020, offers fresh, made-from-scratch juices, smoothies, bowls, and snacks.
Customer favorites include Fresas Con Crema, Shrimp Ceviche Plate, Shrimp Ceviche Tostadas, and more. Favorites at Yesi’s include the chilaquiles, breakfast burrito, steak and eggs, and American breakfast.
The business, which is owned and operated by friends and family, Dominguez said, has been in the works since January. The space now has a new bar, a renovated kitchen, and new, colorful flooring, which was an improvement covered by the building’s owner.
Currently, the restaurant is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 601 S. Green St. near Sidetracked Brewery. Dominguez said that once they get their ABC license, they will offer margaritas, martinis, and other cocktails at their bar inside. Dominguez added that a dinner menu will be coming later as well, and then the restaurant will be open until 10 p.m.
