Construction is underway on the Glen Alpine Downtown Park, with a December opening expected. The project, led by the Burke River Trail Association, aims to boost community connection and downtown foot traffic.
Park to include shelter, restrooms, green space, and event lawn
Original playground plan removed after safety concerns
Located at Linville and Bridge streets on 1.3-acre lot
Funded by $207,120 in public, private, and state contributions
Intended as a hub for community events and civic pride
The Glen Alpine Downtown Park is just a fraction of the Burke River Trail Association’s work to connect all nine towns in Burke County with a trail. The project aims to support downtown revitalization, which in turn is expected to increase foot traffic.
