Glen Alpine leaders voted unanimously to approve a rezoning request that clears the way for a 12-lot residential development on Sundown Road.
While outside town limits, the property falls within Glen Alpine’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, meaning the town controls zoning but won’t provide regular services.
Rezoned from RA-20 to PUD-R to allow half-acre to 1.37-acre lots.
Utilities will come from Brentwood Water Corp. and Duke Energy; each home will have a septic system.
NCDOT approved driveway access and has no traffic concerns.
Burke County Sheriff’s Office and West End Fire District will cover public safety.
One resident voiced support, citing the need for more housing.
Board also accepted former alderman Jim Frady’s resignation and reverted meeting dates back to the second Monday of each month
