United Way and Paramount Hyundai announce 3rd annual car giveaway

Burke County United Way (BCUW), in partnership with Paramount Hyundai Valdese, has announced the return of their car giveaway program for the third consecutive year.

Eligible donors will have the opportunity to win a brand-new 2025 Hyundai Sonata SE, donated by Paramount Hyundai Valdese.

This initiative aims to encourage community support, recognize donor generosity, and raise funds for BCUW’s Strong Families Initiative, which provides essential programs to improve the lives of individuals and families in Burke County.

How to enter:

• Visit bcuw.org/car-giveaway to read the rules and regulations.
• Donate $100 or more to Burke County United Way.

Donors can increase their chances of winning by contributing more than $100. A $100 donation equals one entry, $200 equals two entries, and so on.

All donors of $100 or more are automatically eligible; participants from previous years will notice there is no separate “Opt-In” form this year, making entry simpler than ever.

Finalists will be drawn and notified in December, followed by a giveaway event at the Paramount Hyundai Valdese dealership in Valdese.

Eligibility extends to donors who gave between Dec. 3, 2023, and Dec. 2, 2024, which is 1BurkeGives Giving Day.

Previous Winners Pay It Forward

The impact of this car giveaway extends far beyond the initial prize, United Way officials said. Previous winners have demonstrated remarkable generosity by using their winnings to further contribute to the community.

In 2023, Emily Elder of Morganton, a dedicated BCUW donor for five years, used the proceeds from selling her previous vehicle to make a substantial donation to a local animal shelter after winning a new Hyundai.

“Donating to BCUW allows me to feel like I am supporting my community’s greatest needs,” Elder said.

Last year’s winner, Brent Hoffman, along with his wife Cathie, made a generous donation of $4,000 to BCUW. They also contributed the same amount to three other local organizations, with their total charitable giving representing half the value of their winning 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz.

“We deeply value BCUW’s mission and their work in housing, self-sufficiency, and youth success,” Hoffman explained. “We trust BCUW to carefully assess community needs and allocate funding where it matters most.”

These stories exemplify how the car giveaway creates a circle of giving that amplifies the initial impact of each donation, inspiring winners to continue supporting vital community services, United Way officials said.

The Paramount Car Giveaway was launched to inspire community involvement, honor the contributions of donors, and generate funds for BCUW’s Strong Families Initiative.

This initiative supports essential programs aimed at improving the lives of individuals and families in Burke County.
