Shiloh AME Church will celebrate its annual homecoming on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. The church’s pastor, the Rev. Gwendolyn I. Benjamin, will preach at 11 a.m. and the Shiloh Gospel Choir will sing. Following a fellowship dinner, the Rev. David Suber and the Glade Creek Baptist Church choir and congregation from Brevard will be the guests. Monday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m., will begin a three-night revival. The Burke County America250 committee and the Historic Burke Foundation are co-sponsoring the Revolutionary War Encampment at Quaker Meadows on Saturday, Sept. 27, 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. See real people camping, cooking, and living like the 1700s. Actor Sonny Kelly will portray an enslaved man from the Revolutionary period. The local Quaker Meadows Chapter (DAR) and Col. Alexander Erwin Chapter (SAR) are also supporting the event. Linville United Methodist Church at Lake James will be celebrating homecoming on Sunday, Sept. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at 4446 N.C. 126, three miles west of the Lake James Fire and Rescue Department.
