All the world’s a stage — or at least it was for the last two weeks in July for budding actors, costumers, and stage managers.
Youth from elementary through high school recently took center stage at the City of Morganton Municipal Auditorium for the fifth annual Theatre Camp.
Camps like this could encourage the next Audra McDonald, Paul Tazewell, or Julie Taymor.
The younger kids spent the week of July 14 learning improv skills, understanding lighting and other theatre technology, practicing acting techniques, and exploring set and costume design. Middle and high schoolers had their chance to be in the limelight the following week.
Both camps ended with the drama kids staging a production for parents and family.
