As TOSS Director Jessica Butler unfolded two metal chairs in the middle of a room lined with art and paint stains, an instructor and several interns bustled around her, chattering in the doorway and organizing supplies.
Butler, who became director in April of this year, relaxed into the chair before detailing the path that led to her place in TOSS.

After facing uncertainty and cancellation, Burke County’s annual dance competition, Dancing With the Burke Stars 2024, was ultimately revived by local resident Carlos Foster as "Dancing with the Local Stars." Held on June 29 at CoMMA, the event featured eight local community members paired with professional dancers competing for the mirrorball trophy. Dr. Dustin Houser emerged as the overall winner, while Debra Benfield was recognized for her fundraising efforts. The event raised funds for various charities, with plans already underway for next year's production, Dancing With the Local Stars 2025, slated for Feb. 15.
