The City of Morganton is stacking grant applications, piecing together a framework that it hopes will lead to a revitalized Catawba Meadows and Catawba River Soccer Complex, two parks that are costing the city hundreds of thousands each year in lost revenue.
Morganton recorded about $13.9 million in building permits in August, led by an $8.7 million Henredon Road apartment development and $2.79 million Catawba Meadows replacement project, pushing year-to-date construction activity sharply higher.
