When Abigail Taylor isn’t walking to work at Burke County United Way, or teaching Audio & Visual Production as an adjunct instructor at Western Piedmont Community College, they can be found extracting laughs with Morganton Improv, an improv and sketch comedy group they started in 2018, or head-banging and singing lead vocals in the Asheville-based punk band, Fantømex.

If you’ve ever dreamt of trying stand-up comedy or joining an improvisation show, join Morganton Improv for a six-week improvisational class series starting this Saturday, Jan. 25. Led by Coach Chet Wagner, participants will learn key techniques like agreement, listening, teamwork, and mastering improv games by the end of the course. Open to anyone above 18 years old, the classes are held at Morganton General Store with a cost of $100 for the series. Those interested can join by showing up or contacting Morganton Improv via their Facebook page. This initiative aims to expand the local improv community, providing an accessible and affordable option for exploring the art of improv.
