Burke County Public Schools recognized Jonathon Morgan, an eighth-grade math teacher at Table Rock Middle School, as the district 2025-26 Teacher of the Year last week, presenting him with the award and a Ford Bronco, which he gets to drive for the next year.

Burke Middle College teacher Tim Barnsback has been named a 2025 America 250 NC Teacher Fellow by the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) and Carolina K-12, a program at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Burke Middle College (BMC) and Hallyburton Academy have been awarded the Go Outside NC Trailblazers grant of $10,000 each to establish Trailblazers Outdoor Clubs at their schools.
