Patton High crowns its homecoming queen

Homecoming season kicked off for Burke County Public Schools at the end of September with Patton High School presenting its Homecoming Court and naming its Queen.

Isabella Denton was crowned Patton High School's Homecoming Queen by school principal Gretchen Reiss. The ceremony was part of halftime at the Panthers' varsity football game against Draughn High School on Friday, Sept. 26. The home team won 31-0.

Wendy Jannette Ailon-Mejia: Wendy is the daughter of Francisco Ailon Velasquez and Herlinda Mejia Mendoza. Wendy was escorted by her mother Herlinda Mejia Mendoza and her sister Cecilia Mendoza. During her four years at Patton, Wendy has been a member of the SGA, The Patton Panther Regiment Symphonic band and Marching band, Garden Club, Spanish Club, HOSA, Kind Club, Patton Christian Youth Group, Sew Moore Sewing club, Rising Youth nonprofit organization, the League of United Latin American Citizens NC (LULAC), Nation Honors Society, National Society of High School Scholars, Soar Ahead nonprofit, and Anchor Club. Wendy’s hobbies include taking care of farm animals, cooking, volunteering, and shopping. After graduation, she plans to attend a two-year community college program.

Camber Sue Buzze: Camber is the daughter of Dustin and Jessica Buzze. Camber was escorted by her father, Dustin Buzze. During her four years at Patton, Camber has been a member of the Lacrosse team, The Patton Panther Regiment band, Kind Club, SGA, National Honor Society, and Book Club. Camber’s hobbies include reading, hanging out with her dog, and playing the saxophone. After graduation, she plans to attend a four-year university. This special moment is dedicated in memory of her mother, Misty Buzze.

Isabella Sophea Denton: Isabella Sophea Denton is the daughter of Brandy and Nathan Denton. Bella was escorted by her brother Noah Denton. During her four years at Patton, she has been a member of The Patton Panther Regiment Symphonic band and Marching band, Yearbook, National Honors Society, Women for Christ Club, and Garden Club. Bella’s hobbies include reading, doing group Bible studies, late night driving, listening to music, and hanging out with friends. After graduation, she plans to attend a four-year university.

Jincy Raelyn Gibby: Jincy is the daughter of Bill and Dahn Gibby. Jincy is escorted by her brother Devin Poteet. During her four years at Patton, Jincy has been a member of the women's soccer team, Swim team, National Honors Society Parliamentarian, Anchor Club Historian, Kind Club, Women’s For Christ Club, Garden Club, HOSA, and has participated as a Student Assistant Athletic Trainer. Jincy’s hobbies include being at the beach and tanning and she loves hanging out with friends and family. After graduation, she plans to attend a four-year university.

Emma Elizabeth Griffin: Emma is the daughter of Sarah Stotts. Emma Griffin is escorted by her brother, Jackson Griffin. During her four years at Patton, she has been a member of the volleyball team and is a member of HOSA. Emma is enrolled in Western Piedmont Community College classes and has made the deans list for the past two years. Emma’s hobbies include playing volleyball, going to the gym, and spending time with her family. After graduation, she plans to enlist in the Air Force and attend a four-year university.

MaKenzie Cheyenne Hasson: MaKenzie is the daughter of Jessica Hasson, Aaron Benton, and the late TJ Riles. MaKenzie was escorted by her mother, Jessica Hasson. During her four years at Patton, MaKenzie has been a member of The Patton Panther Regiment band, Patton’s Women Lacrosse team, the Senior Executive Treasure in the SGA, and a member of National Honor Society. MaKenzie enjoys being in Quiz Bowl, Garden Club, Gaming Club, and Sew Moore. She has participated in dance for 11 years, and enjoys competing in North Carolina pageants. After graduation, she plans to attend a four-year university.

Chesney Saige Hensley: Chesney is the daughter of Brandon and Dana Hensley. Chesney was escorted by her father, Dr. Brandon Hensley. During her four years at Patton, Chesney has been a member of the volleyball team, has been the community service project coordinator for National Honor Society, the treasurer for Science National Honor Society, a senator for SGA Student Council, a member of Kind Club, Gardening Club, and Sewing Club. Chesney’s hobbies include being a member of her youth group, doing her own nails, and spending time with her dog. After graduation, she plans to attend a four-year university.

Sophie Jo Lantvit: Sophie Jo is the daughter of Pete and Kerrey Lantvit. Sophie was escorted by her father, Pete Lantvit. During her four years at Patton, she has been a member of the Patton Regiment band, Creative Writing Club and Sewing Club. Her hobbies include reading, drawing, and spending time with her friends and family. After graduation, she plans to attend a four-year university.

Faith Ann Pons: Faith is the daughter of Jonathan Pons and Sara Keisler. Faith was escorted by her grandfather, Larry Kahill. During her four years at Patton, Faith has been a member of Anchor Club, Garden Club, Kind Club, and serves National Honor Society as the vice president. She is also a competitive dancer at Debbie Huffman Dance Academy. Her hobbies include volunteering at her church, spending time with her family and friends, and traveling. After graduation, she plans to attend a four-year university.

Carly Grace Setterlind: Carly is the daughter of Gina and John Setterlind. Carly was escorted by her father, John Setterlind. During her four years at Patton, she has been a member of the Patton Volleyball team and is currently serving as captain of the Varsity team. Carly's hobbies include traveling with her family and friends, shopping, and playing volleyball. After graduation, she plans to attend a four year university.

Ivy Renee Steele: Ivy is the daughter of Jessica Anthony. Ivy was escorted by her mom, Jessica Anthony. During her four years at Patton, Ivy has been a member of the National Honors Society, Science National Honor Society, SGA and the Human Relations Commission. Ivy’s hobbies include, attending Bible studies, volunteering, and going to concerts. After graduation, she plans to attend a four year university.

Macey Karlton Webb: Macey is the daughter of Jason and Angie Webb. Macey was being escorted by her father, Jason Webb. During her four years at Patton, Macey has participated in the Garden Club, Kind Club, Anchor Club, and is the President of the National Honors Society. Macey's hobbies include competitive dancing, shopping, hanging out with friends, and playing with her dog, Maggie. After graduation, she plans to attend a four-year university.

Jordan Elizabeth Wells: Jordan is the daughter of Ashley Clopton and Jason Wells. Jordan was escorted by her mom, Ashley Clopton. During her four years at Patton, Jordan has been a member of the Patton Regiment High School Marching band and Symphonic band. Jordan’s hobbies include playing her instrument and going to car shows. After graduation, she plans to attend a four-year university studying automotive engineering.
