The popular David Wiseman Band brought its energetic and entertaining Appalachian-style acoustic music to a packed house at Thornwell Books recently.

Local writers gathered at Thornwell Books in downtown Morganton on March 7 for the third annual Local Authors’ Showcase, a community event where readers met regional authors.

A Morganton author, Taryn R. Hutchison, who lived in Eastern Europe for 10 years releases the final installment of her trilogy set during the Romanian Revolution titled “Three Colors of Courage.” Hutchison’s historical fiction series for ages 12 and up follows protagonist Adriana Nicu navigating oppressive living conditions, mandatory military training, and resistance against the secret police.
