Two months after assuming control of the Department of Social Services, the Caldwell County Commissioners approved a restructuring of Child Protective Services that eliminates five vacant positions and gives remaining CPS staff a 10% raise to compensate for the shifting workloads.

To the echoes of a booing crowd, the Caldwell County Board of Commissioners voted to assume control of the county’s Department of Social Services and its Board of Health following a series of residents critiquing the necessity of the move.
