Forest Hill Elementary recently unveiled a new vending machine that delivers books instead of snacks to students.

As four members of the Burke County Board of Education prepare to conclude their tenure, they reflect on a legacy founded on unity and dedication to public education. Seth Hunt, Don Hemstreet, Jane Sohovich, and Wendi Craven highlight the board's achievements, including securing funding for new school construction, enhancing student policies, and maximizing federal resources during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Burke County Board of Education member Jane Sohovich is one of two board members welcomed by the Western Piedmont Foundation (WPF) during its annual meeting on Thursday, Aug. 22.

The Burke County Board of Education recently took significant steps towards establishing a new elementary school in the eastern part of the county and relocating the district headquarters. The board secured 43 acres in Hildebran for the elementary school and approved the purchase of a new central office space on 305 W. Union St.
