The City of Morganton's strategic future land use plan, IMAGINE Morganton 2040, is nearing completion following a joint meeting between the City Council and Planning & Zoning Commission. Created with input from over 22,000 residents, the comprehensive plan aims to guide future land use decisions and development in Morganton. Identified strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities inform the six-sectioned plan, including eleven future land use classifications and a policy framework focused on growth, preservation, and community priorities.
